Borneo — Product Description
Active Ingredient:
-
Etoxazole 10% SC (Suspension Concentrate)
What It Is / What It Does
-
Borneo is a selective acaricide / miticide formulated to control mite pests. It is especially effective against eggs, larvae, and nymphs of mites.
-
It inhibits chitin synthesis in mites, preventing proper moulting / formation of exoskeleton in immature stages.
-
It reduces reproduction in female adult mites (though its primary effect is on young stages).
Key Features & Benefits
| Feature | Benefit |
|---|---|
| Effective against early mite stages | Controlling eggs, larvae, nymphs helps prevent population build-up. |
| Long residual action | Provides protection lasting a long period (≈ 45-60 days under favourable conditions). |
| Translaminar action | Penetrates to underside of leaves to reach mites hidden there. |
| Rainfast / weather-tolerant | Spray remains effective even after several hours of rain. |
| Selective and safer for beneficials | Designed to have low toxicity to many beneficial insects when used correctly. |
Target Pests & Crops
-
Pests:
Red spider mites (Tetranychus urticae), yellow mites, and other mite species. -
Crops:
Commonly used in tomato, brinjal (eggplant), chilli, cotton, tea, and other vegetables & fruits.
Application / Dosage
| Crop or Situation | Dosage / Rate | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| General vegetable / protected tomato / brinjal | 25-30 ml per 100 L water; increase to ~ 35 ml/100 L when mite infestation is high. | |
| Per acre (field crops) | ~ 120-140 ml per acre (depending on crop & water volume) for thorough foliar coverage. | |
| Brinjal / Tea | 160 ml per acre (or per hectare/appropriate area; with suitable water volume) when mites are first observed. |
-
Timing: Apply at early stage of mite infestation, when population reaches threshold (e.g. 3-5 mites per leaf) to get best results.
Limitations / Safety / Precautions
-
Not effective on adult mites—primary effect is on immature stages.
-
For best performance, ensure good leaf coverage, especially under leaves.
-
Use in compliance with crop label, Pre-harvest Interval (PHI), and safety gear.
-
Avoid repeated use without rotation to reduce risk of resistance. Borneo is considered newer and resistance not yet widespread, but still use in integrated pest management
